SYNOPSIS

"Insomnia", the story of two Portuguese brothers who, after the father's death, make a journey to their roots. It describes also the difficult relationship between fathers and sons, full of expectations, disappointment and wrong willing. "Insomnia" becomes the mirror of our own biographies.

Europe grows together, closer and closer. But the people don’t grow the same speed.

Two places – Germany and Portugal. Their atmosphere, their differences. The being foreign, here and there. Traditions are given from generation to generation, and new ones are added. The influence threw the surrounding in which you grow up without feeling as an active process.

Nowadays you have the second generation of emigrants. Mostly born in the guest countries their home is not even more than the stories of their parents. An abstract knowledge.

The question for the "who am I, where do I come from, where do I belong", is even more: what is the meaning of identity?

"Insomnia" starts exactly at this point. The film describes the quest for the answer to this question without being the answer itself. It’s our very personal quest.
